Toward a Green Revolution of the 21st Century.
The Green Revolution of the 20th century dramatically increased agricultural production through crop breeding and the use of chemical fertilizers. At the same time, it left challenges that cannot be understood through production capacity alone, including environmental impacts, dependence on external inputs, and disparities among regions and farmers.
Future agriculture requires multiple perspectives—not only production capacity, but also sustainability, environmental impact, food security, labor, economic viability, and real-world implementation. By connecting diverse forms of knowledge and technology, I aim to build agricultural systems for the next generation. I call this “the Green Revolution of the 21st century” and work toward it primarily through smart agriculture.
