Understanding Plant Responses to the Environment and Using Sensing and Data in Agriculture

I seek to understand how plants respond to environmental stress and connect that knowledge with images and environmental sensor data, so that plant conditions can inform decisions in agricultural settings.

I became interested in biology in high school and conducted a study with a university researcher on tencha, a sweet tea traditionally associated with relief from hay fever symptoms. I also placed importance on communicating the work, presenting it in both Japanese and English through posters and oral presentations.

At university, I majored in applied biology and studied gene function, focusing in particular on the physiological responses of rice to salinity and drought. I also developed an interest in smart agriculture and studied drones and GIS through the Strategy Design Competency Program within the Cross-Faculty Competency Training Program (X-FACT).

Building on these experiences, I intend to bring applied biology and agricultural informatics together in graduate study and pursue research with real-world implementation in view.
